Oscar-nominated actor Viggo Mortensen has signed on to produce and star in Lisandro Alonso’s upcoming untitled drama.
The film, penned by Argentina film-maker Alonso and Fabian Casas, follows Gunner Blixen (Mortensen) and his daughter who journey from Denmark to an unknown desert that exists in a realm beyond the confines of civilization.
Andy Kleinman’s Massive Inc. will produce together with Mortensen’s Perceval Films banner and Alonso’s 4L. Jaime Romandia of Mantarraya and Ilse Hughan of Fortuna Films are also producing. Production on the movie is scheduled to start early next year in Denmark and Argentina.
Alonso’s previous film, Liverpool, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2008 before its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
