Fresh off her awards season success, Oscar winning Danish director Susanne Bier is heading to Italy to shoot her next film, which the director says will take a lighter, more comic tone than her intense drama In A Better World.

Bier told Italy’s La Repubblica newspaper she was attracted to the “light, nature and the climate,” after a trip to Italy’s Amalfi coast. “I promised myself I would come and shoot a film as soon as the right story came along. Now it’s happened,” she added.

Bier’s new film will be called All You Need Is Love, a title she says perfectly captures the “spirit” of the film. “The story is once again about a Danish family, but with a comic tone. It’s a tender story with a much lighter tone than my previous works, no more conflict!” Bier told La Repubblica.

Zentropa will produce while Italy’s Vieri Razzini and Cesare Petrillo of arthouse distributor Teodora and Lionello Cerri of Lumiere are both on board as Italian co-producers, a Teodora spokesperson confirmed.

The Milan-based Cerri is both an exhibitor and producer, whose producer credits include Silvio Soldini’s Days and Clouds.

Casting information is not yet available, although the shoot around the Amalfi region is set to start in date is May.

Teodora has a long-standing relationship with Bier, having distributed Things We Lost In The Fire, the Oscar-nominated After The Wedding, and Brothers.

Teodora also announced they will re-release In A Better World, which took $587,000 (E 457,000) off its first run, through its partnership with Cerri’s Spazio Cinema. The second release of the film will be a ten-screen niche release that aims to bring the film back to Italy’s main cities.

Bier’s World also took the top audience and jury prizes at the 2010 edition of the Rome Film Festival.
