Tom Gormican wrote the Blacklist screenplay and is scheduled to begin shooting Are We Officially Dating? for TreeHouse Pictures in New York in November. QED will introduce to buyers in Toronto next week.

The film tells of three friends in New York who make a pact to remain single just as they each start to fall in love. In-demand Efron is currently in Venice with TreeHouse’s At Any Price and will fly to Toronto for The Paperboy.

TreeHouse Pictures’ Justin Nappi and Kevin Turen are producing with Scott Aversano and Andrew O’Connor. Michael Simkin, Jason Barrett and Manu Gargi serve as executive producers.

Are We Officially Dating? is a story about timing and your twenties, and just how difficult it can be,” Nappi said. “We’re thrilled to be teaming with Tom Gormican on his relatable script which will resonate with a large audience.”

“We strongly believe in the global appeal of this project and we’re excited to work with the team at TreeHouse Pictures to bring it to market in Toronto,” QED International CEO Bill Block said. “Are We Officially Dating? is an excellent addition to QED’s growing sales slate, and underscores our commitment to commercial, film-maker-driven product.”

Gormican recently sold Bad Form to Warner Bros and Save The Date to Sony with Neil Moritz. He is represented by WME and 3Arts. Efron is represented by CAA, Alchemy Entertainment and Patty Felker.

Block and newly arrived president of international Danny Diamond’s QED’s autumn sales slate includes Haunt, Ten directed by David Ayer and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, and John Turturro’s upcoming Fading Gigolo with Woody Allen.

TreeHouse’s roster includes At Any Price and the drama Arbitrage starring Richard Gere, set to open through Lionsgate and Roadside Attraction on Sept 14. The line-up includes Adult World with Emma Roberts and J C Chandor’s Margin Call follow-up All Is Lost starring Robert Redford.
