Producer Becky Adams is hoping to partly finance the feature via crowdfunding as well as launching a 16 week education programme to run alongside the production process of the low budget British comedy.

Brenda Lee has written and will direct Fortune Cookies, a cross cultural comedy about a Chinese family who are obsessed with a British TV game show Fame To Fortune.

Elaine Tan (Starter For Ten), David Yip (Chinese Detective), Pik Sen Lim (The Ruby In The Smoke), Ozzie Yue (Act of Grace) and real life quiz show host turned actor Les Dennis will star in the low budget film, which will shoot in the East Midlands and London and is being produced by Becky Adams for London and Northampton based Reelscape Films.

The plans for the feature were unveiled last night at a special event hosted at the London Eye.

Running alongside the production process there will be a 16 week education programme offering work experience opportunities to school children as well as chances to attend script workshops and be extras on the film.

It follows a similar model to that of Reelscape’s short The Caterpillar And Fly, which was made over 6 months with children from Southfield School in Kettering working as producers to script, finance and shoot the film, alongside Adams.

Adams hopes to raise part of Fortune Cookies’ budget via crowdfunding.

“It’s a comedy about the nightmare that is family. We hope it will span the ages and we hope that people might be keen to be involved in some small way as well as supporting the educational side as well. We are trying to do something a bit different,” explains Adams.
