Red Granite owns the rights to Jordan Belfort’s best-selling memoir about his tumultuous life as a trader and is financing the project. Martin Scorsese will direct Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead role.

Reiner is circling the role of Max, Belfort’s father. The cast includes Jonah Hill and earlier this week it emerged that Australian actress Margot Robbie was in talks to play the female lead. Jon Bernthal is also reportedly on board.

Riza Aziz and Joey McFarland of Red Granite will produce The Wolf Of Wall Street alongside DiCaprio through his Appian Way, Scorsese and Emma Koskoff through Sikelia Productions and Alexandra Milchan of EMJAG Productions. Irwin Winkler and Georgia Kacandes serve as executive producers.

Terence Winter adapted the screenplay. Production is slated to begin in August in New York. Red Granite holds international rights but has not begun pre-sales in earnest.
