EXCLUSIVE: Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, The Quiet Ones actor and former Screen Star of Tomorrow Sam Claflin to star in Brit comedy.

Rising actor Sam Claflin is attached to star in Brit List rom-com Modern Life is Rubbish, which is due to shoot in the UK in early 2013.

Daniel Jerome Gill’s debut feature is written by Philip Gawthorne, who adapted the script from his award-winning play of the same name. Dominic Norris of Serotonin Films and Amanda Breheny of Rising Sun Productions produce.

The film charts a music-loving couple’s painful break up after ten years. As they complete the poignant process of separating their lives and music collections, the two recount their turbulent history.

The production is currently casting a female lead.

“It is a modern, funny, deeply-romantic tale that captures how music connects those key moments that define our lives,” Norris told Screen. “Both Dan & Phil are fresh talents that inject an original and stylish approach to this universal love story and Sam is a very talented young actor and makes the perfect leading man.”

Claflin, who recently wrapped shoot on The Quiet Ones, and previously had roles in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Snow White and the Huntsman, is due to play a major supporting role in Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. He was also a Screen Star of Tomorrow.
