Gus Van Sant has concluded principal photography in location in Japan and Massachusetts on Bloom sales title The Sea Of Trees.

Mathew McConaughey, Ken Watanabe and Naomi Watts star in the story of a suicidal man who journeys to the notorious Aokigahara forest in Japan, where he has a life-changing encounter.

The cast also includes Katie Aselton and Jordan Gavaris.

Part of the shoot took place in Aokigahara at the foothills of Mt Fuji. Post-production work is now underway in Los Angeles.  

Gil Netter, Bloom co-head Ken Kao, Kevin Halloran, F Gary Gray, Brian Dobbins, Allen Fischer and Chris Sparling produce. Sparling wrote the original screenplay.

Alex Walton and Kao’s international sales, production and financing company Bloom launched pre-sales on The Sea Of Trees in Cannes and sold out most of the world.
