Philipp Stolzl is directing the film in Montreal before production relocates to Brussels in May.

Liana Liberato and Olga Kurylenko star alongside Eckhart as a former CIA agent who goes on the run with his estranged daughter as they are pursued through Belgium by a mysterious hit squad. AE Amel wrote the screenplay.

The Expatriate is a Canadia-Belgium co-production and is being produced by Karl Richards of eMotion and Jonathan Vanger and Claude Leger of Montreal based Transfilm. Informant Media’s Judy Cairo, Michael A Simpson, Howard Meltzer and Eric Brenner serve as executive producers alongside Smash Media’s Harry Winer.

Essential Entertainment will also executive produce and are handling international sales for the title. CAA’s independent film sales team represents US rights.

Funding for the film is being provided by the Informant Media Film Fund, Informant Europe, Lankn Partners, Adrian Politowski’s uMedia, FIDEC and the National Bank of Canada.
