EXCLUSIVE: Skip Woods to adapt sci-fi epic Universal War One, based on graphic novel.

Screenwriter Skip Woods, whose credits include X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The A Team and A Good Day To Die Hard, will adapt sci-fi epic graphic novel Universal War One for the big screen.

Umedia will produce the live-action feature based on the six-part graphic novel series.

Denis Bajram created the books, which is published by Marvel in the US and Soleil in France. Set in the future of interplanetary war, the story follows disgraced officers who have to venture to the outer reaches of space where they are attacked.

“Skip’s work offers the grit and intelligence that permeates the world of UW1,” said Umedia founder/CEO Adrian Politowski.  “He will undoubtedly retain the essence and spirit of adventure that has made Denis Bajram’s work such a masterpiece.”

Umedia, which has also worked on the forthcoming Grace of Monaco, is headquartered in Brussels with offices in Los Angeles, Paris and London.

The company’s slate also includes adaptation of French graphic novel series Black Op, about a secret agent fighting corruption in the US; an English-language remake of French hit Priceless and action film Fallen Cross based on an idea from US writer David O’Neil.
