Shooting begins on Jonathan Teplitzky’s war drama in Scotland on April 30.

Stellan Skarsgård and Hiroyuki Sanada have joined the cast of Jonathan Teplitzky’s The Railway Man, alongside Colin Firth, Nicole Kidman and Jeremy Irvine.

Shooting begins on the project in Scotland on April 30. The 10-week shoot then moves to Thailand and Queensland, Australia.

Adapted by Frank Cottrell Boyce and Andy Paterson from Eric Lomax’s best-selling book, The Railway Man tells the story of a Scottish prisoner of war and his journey to confront his captors.

Andy Paterson, Chris Brown and Bill Curbishley are producing. Executive producers are Claudia Blümhuber and Ian Hutchinson from Silver Reel, Zygi Kamasa for Lionsgate UK, Anand Tucker and Daria Jovicic.

Lionsgate is handling international sales on the project and will release in the UK.
