Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions have announced that principal photography is underway in New Orleans.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney, JK Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi and Byung Hun Lee star.
Paramount will distribute the film worldwide on July 1, 2015.
Alan Taylor, whose credits include Thor: The Dark World and Game Of Thrones, directs from a screenplay by Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier.
Skydance Productions head David Ellison and colleague Dana Goldberg are producing and Skydance’s Paul Schwake serves as executive producer alongside Annapurna Pictures’ Megan Ellison, Kalogridis and Lussier.
The Terminator franchise launched in 1984 and famously starred Schwarzenegger in the title role (pictured). That film spawned three more and the franchise has grossed more than $1bn worldwide.
- Sony Pictures Entertainment, Mattel and Parkes+MacDonald/Image Nation are to partner on a live-action feature based on the Barbie property. Production will kick off at the end of the year based on a screenplay by Jenny Bicks. Walter F Parkes and Laurie MacDonald will produce.
