The Exchange has closed what it said was a low-to-mid six-figure deal for the action film as it builds its production slate backed by the recently announced Exchange Peaks Film Capital fund.

Lucas Carter’s spec screenplay is being structured as a co-production between The Exchange and Intrigue Entertainment. Exchange Peaks Film Capital, the fund The Exchange set up with Grand Peaks Entertainment, will finance the project.

Laura Ivey will produce Camden with Intrigue’s Tariq Jalil while Brian O’Shea [pictured] of The Exchange and Alan Simpson of Grand Peaks will serve as executive producers.

Camden centres on a romance between the daughter of the US President and a young Secret Service agent posing as a student to protect her when a renegade military group storms her elite college and takes her hostage.

“The Exchange is growing and evolving,” said O’Shea. “Camden is a perfect opportunity to move into production, perfectly complements our core business of international sales. Camden is a terrific mainstream, fast-paced tale full of edge-of-your-seat action. We are very happy to begin this adventure with this project and Intrigue Entertainment.”

“We’re thrilled to be working with The Exchange,” said Jalil. “It’s refreshing to be able to find people who love films and can finance them in a meaningful way.”

Exchange Peaks is in production on the thriller Swelter starring Lennie James, Alfred Molina, Catalina Sandino, Josh Henderson and Jean-Claude Van Damme and has lined up production on Richard LaGravenese’s The Last 5 Years starring Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan.
