The Tribeca Film Institute (TFI) announced the projects selected for the inaugural TFI Latin America Media Arts Fund Filmmaker Workshop at the Santiago International Film Festival (SANFIC), Chile.

The two-day collaborative lab runs from Aug 29-30 and is designed to educate, assist and aid five emerging filmmakers and media artists with development of their feature documentary or hybrid works.

The TFI Latin America Media Arts Fund Filmmaker Workshop in Santiago, Chile, is one of three international workshops launching this year alongside similar initiatives in October in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Mexico City, Mexico.

The workshops are sponsored by Bloomberg and led by TFI staff. Earlier this year the TFI Latin America Media Arts Fund awarded $10,000 in grants to animation, documentary or hybrid feature-length films in advanced development, production or post-production from filmmakers living and working in the Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America.

In addition, Bloomberg awarded $12,000 in grants and mentorship to an inaugural group of TFI/Bloomberg Fellows. Maite Alberdi Soto of Chile, previously selected as a fellow for her project Children/Los Ninos, will be a guest presenter at the TFI Latin America Media Arts Fund Filmmaker Workshop at SANFIC and is serving as a juror for the SANFIC Local Talent Competition.

The following projects have been selected for the TFI Latin America Media Arts Fund Filmmaker Workshop at the Santiago International Film Festival:

There’s A Place, directed by Valentina Mac-Pherson and Patricia Correa;

Without A Cover Adriana, directed by Lissette Orozco and produced by Benjamin Band;

The Beavers (Los Castores), directed by Antonio Luco and Nicolas Molina and produced by Francisco Herve;

Grandfather’s Gift [pictured], directed by Ana Maria Hurtado; and

Eighth Year, directed by Nicolas Guzman.
