Mark Craig’s feature documentary High Hopes has gone into production after receiving funding from EM Media.

Production has begun on Mark Craig’s feature documentary High Hopes, which is being produced by the UK’s Tigerlily Films.

The film, which explores what has become of a group of 1970s art and design students, has received $76,000 (£50,000) in funding from regional screen agency EM Media, through the UK Film Council’s Digital Film Archive Fund.

Stopwatch Productions are co-producing the project, which combines interviews and live action footage with personal and library archive sourced from the Media Archive for Central England, along with various animation sequences.

Producer Natasha Dack of Tigerlily Films came on board after seeing Craig’s short film Talk To Me, which won a Sheffield Doc/Fest Grierson Innovation Award in 2007.

Debbie Williams, chief executive of EM Media, said: “Tigerlily produces consistently interesting projects; this is another example of a local story which we believe has international appeal.”
