The Marvel Studios hierarchy has announced that “key elements” of Avengers: Age Of Ultron will be filmed in Seoul.

Besides South Korea, the superhero sequel will shoot in London, where the production will be based, and Aosta Valley in Italy. Filming is underway in Johannesburg, South Africa. The studio plans to announce additional locations.

Ultron is scheduled to open worldwide through Disney on May 1, 2015.

“South Korea is the perfect location for a movie of this magnitude because it features cutting-edge technology, beautiful landscapes and spectacular architecture,” said Marvel Studios president and Ultron producer Kevin Feige. “We would especially like to thank the Ministry Of Culture, Sports and Tourism for making it possible for Avengers: Age Of Ultron to come to Korea.”

South Korea’s minister of Culture, Sports & Tourism Yoo Jinryong said, “We’re very excited to have the production in Korea, and also expect this to serve as the footstep of many more opportunities yet to come.”

Joss Whedon reprises his role as writer-director on the film, which will star the returning cast of Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L Jackson.

New cast members are James Spader as Ultron, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver and Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch.
