Kelly Marcel will adapt E L James’ erotic bestseller Fifty Shades Of Grey.

Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti will serve as producers alongside James. Fifty Shades Of Grey is the first in James’ trilogy about an ongoing game of sexual domination between a young billionaire and a college student.

Marcel wrote the 2011 Black List script Saving Mr Banks, which is currently in production at Walt Disney Studios starring Tom Hanks, Emma Thompson and Colin Farrell.

Universal Pictures and Focus Features acquired the rights to the three books in the Fifty Shades series amid much fanfare last March. The other two books are Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed.

WME and Casarotto Ramsay & Associates Limited represented Marcel in negotiations.
