Wim Wenders’ Berlin-based Neue Road Movies, the producer of his 3D dance film Pina, is planning to shoot two films in Eastern Europe this year and preparing Wenders’ next feature to roll in Canada in 2012.
This year will see Neue Road Movies serving as a minority co-producer on Strada Film’s Wolf by feature debutant Bogdan Mustata. The surreal story set in Romania won the Torino Film Lab’s Production Award and the inaugural Sundance Institute Mahindra Global Filmmaking Award last month.
In addition, a co-production with Belgium’s Entre Chien et Loup and an as yet unconfirmed Hungarian partner is planned for Christian-Moris Mueller’s drama On The Horizon which will shoot in Hungary about an East German family looking to flee to the West via Hungary in summer 1989. Mueller’s feature debut Four Windows had screened in Perspektive Deutsches Kino at the Berlinale in 2006.
Meanwhile, co-producers from France and Canada will now be in Wenders’ sights for his next feature film Everything Will Be Fine which would shoot on location in Canada in 2012. The drama centres on a man haunted for the next 12 years after accidentally hitting and killing a child with his car.
In addition, Birgit Moeller’s Amyland about a woman with multiple personality order whose life is thrown off balance when romance beckons, is also being prepared as an international co-production for 2012.
Neue Road Movies is currently in postproduction on another minority co-production - with Greece’s Angry Man - of Filippos Tsitos’ Unfair World.
