Unclaimed Freight Productions’ Randall Miller and Jody Savin have found their lead for the biopic Midnight Rider.

As previously announced, Open Road Films will handle the US release and The Exchange represents international sales.

Hurt will play current-day Gregg Allman, while The All American Rejects lead singer Tyson Ritter will portray the blues singer in his younger days.

Wyatt Russell, who stars opposite Channing Tatum in the upcoming 22 Jump Street, will play Duane Allman.

Savin and Miller co-wrote the screenplay and Miller will direct. The pair will produce.
