The studios will partner on the upcoming Untitled Reese Witherspoon/Sofia Vergara Comedy.

Anne Fletcher will direct from a script by David Feeney and John Quaintance and principal photography is set to start this month in New Orleans for release on May 8, 2015.

Witherspoon and her Pacific Standard partner Bruna Papandrea will produce with Dana Fox. Vergara and her manager Louis Balaguer are executive producers.

Witherspoon will play an uptight police officer trying to protect Vergara’s sexy and outgoing widow of a drug boss as they race through Texas pursued by crooked officers and gunmen.

MGM and New Line Cinema/Warner Bros previously partnered on the blockbuster Hobbit franchise and the upcoming romance film If I Stay.

MGM will oversee production and Warner Bros will take on worldwide distribution while MGM handles select territories.
