Yann Demange attached to direct Northern Ireland thriller 71

EXCLUSIVE: In-demand director of Channel 4 series Top Boy attached to Crab Apple Films/Warp Films project from Black Watch writer Gregory Burke.

Acclaimed TV director Yann Demange is newly attached to make his feature film debut on anticipated thriller 71.

The 1971-set film follows a teenage British soldier who has to navigate the dangerous Belfast streets after he is accidentally left behind by his unit.

The original screenplay is written by the award-winning playwright Gregory Burke, whose play Black Watch has been on two world tours.

Angus Lamont of Crab Apple Films produces with Robin Gutch of Warp Films. Development partners are Film4, Northern Ireland Screen and Creative Scotland.

Rising star Demange most recently directed acclaimed Channel 4 crime drama Top Boy starring Ashley Walters as well as an episode of the broadcaster’s popular series Coming Up.
