A biopic based around David Bowie and Iggy Pop’s collaboration in 1970s West Berlin is to be directed by Gabriel Range.

Range’s London-based Altered Image will co-produce Lust for Life with Berlin’s Egoli Tossell Film. It will be set in 1976, exploring the friendship and creative collaboration of the charismatic musicians, who arguably produced their best work in the divided city.

Range, whose previous credits include the documentary Little Matador and the Emmy-winning Death Of A President, will direct from a screenplay written by writer-musician Robin French, who recently co-wrote BBC3 sitcom Cuckoo, starring Andy Samberg.

The project received development funding from the UK’s Creative England and Germany’s FFA last year, and producers Range, Nina Schermer and Egoli Tossell Film’s Jens Meurer will be using the EFM to discuss the project with distributors.
