José Padilha’s [pictured] reboot to commence principal photography tomorrow in Toronto.

Shooting is set to begin tomorrow (15) in Toronto on José Padilha’s RoboCop.

The Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures’ and Columbia Pictures’ production stars Joel Kinnaman as the eponymous cop, with the likes of Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Abbie Cornish and Samuel L. Jackson also starring.

Josh Zetumer and Nick Schenk wrote the screenplay, based on the 1987 film written by Edward Neumeier & Michael Miner, and the film is produced by Marc Abraham and Eric Newman, with Bill Carraro executive producing.

Padilha commented: “It’s exciting to think that we’re going to be starting production on RoboCop. I have a dream cast and an incredibly creative production team, and we are all supremely dedicated, working together to make a movie that will not only live alongside the first film but also break new ground, be relevant for modern audiences and stand on its own.”

RoboCop will be released in the UK on Aug 9 2013 through StudioCanal, day-and-date with its US release through Sony.
