Filmmaker and actor to receive the Heart of Sarajevo on the festival’s opening night.
The honorary Heart of Sarajevo awards are to be presented to designer and director Agnès B. and actor Gael García Bernal on the opening night of the Sarajevo Film Festival (Aug 15-23) .
The following day, Agnès B. will present her feature Je m’appelle Hmmm… to the Sarajevo audiences.
Bernal will attend a screening at Sarajevo’s open air cinema of Alejandro Iñárritu’s Amores Perros, which proved his breakthrough role before going on to star in Almodovar’s Bad Education and Alfonso Cuaron’s Y Tu Mama Tambien, amongst others.
The Mexican actor will also meet with young filmmakers from the countries of Southeast Europe a day later to mark the opening of the Sarajevo Talents - run in cooperation with the Berlinale.
Danis Tanović, the Bosnian director of Oscar-winner No Man’s Land, will receive the third Honorary Heart of Sarajevo awarded this year on the final night of the festival.
