Screen International has appointed Fionnuala Halligan as chief film critic and reviews editor.
Halligan has more than 20 years experience as a film writer and critic and has a long-standing association with Screen.
Her work at the publication dates back to 1992, when she joined as Hong Kong and China correspondent.
Halligan also held the position of International and Assistant Editor (Reviews) for the title.
In recent years, the London-based writer has compiled Screen’s prestigious Stars of Tomorrow series, selecting young talent including John Maclean, Corin Hardy, James Norton and John Boyega.
Halligan will continue to spearhead the talent showcase.
Halligan takes on the role after the Berlin Film Festival (Feb 5-15) from Mark Adams who was recently appointed artistic director of the Edinburgh Film Festival.
“I am delighted to take over reviews at from Mark Adams at such an exciting time for Screen,” she said.
“I’m very much looking forward to working with Screen’s new editor Matt Mueller to deliver top, targeted coverage from Screen’s great team of truly international reviewers.”
