Shooting Stars has acquired all Middle Eastern rights to three Sundance hits: Jeff Baena’s zombie comedy Life After Beth starring Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plaza (sold by XYZ), Jennifer Kent’s The Babadook, a psychological horror about a mother and child (sold by eOne);  and Gareth Evans’ The Raid 2(also sold by XYZ).

The Middle Eastern distributor was the top earner at the local box office in 2013, thanks in part to its output deal with Warner Bros. The company handles  between 15-25 theatrical releases per year.

“We’re feeling very confident coming to the EFM after our three titles were hits at Sundance,” said head of acquisitions Lorianne Hall. “We’re looking to continue our success by picking up more high quality independent films at this market.”

Hall and Shooting Stars MD Tony Chacra are attending the EFM.
