The Slamdance Film Festival has announced the films in its narrative and documentary feature competitions, among them 13 world premieres and seven US premieres.

The 12 films screening in the narrative competition and the 10 in the documentary competition were selected from more than 5,000 submissions to the festival, whose nineteenth edition runs Jan 18-24 in Park City, Utah.

“Our goal is to showcase exhilarating film-making with a revolutionary take on our world,” said Peter Baxter, Slamdance president and co-founder. “These film-makers have a tremendous ability to innovate, explore and revitalize the independent film-making landscape,”.

The world premiere narrative films (all from the US unless indicated) at the festival are:

  • Neil Drumming’s Big Words
  • Jan Eilhardt’s The Court of Shards (Germany)
  • Matt Johnson’s The Dirties (Canada)
  • Ben Peyser and Scott Rutherford’s Billy Chen Presents: Ghost Team One
  • James E Duff’s Hank and Asha
  • Michael Urie’s He’s Way More Famous Than You
  • Nadia Szold’s Joy De V
