Seven month programme will see writers develop a feature length screenplay and producers fast track their development experience.

The Bureau has launched the third edition of their ‘Save Our Scripts’ (SOS) Development Lab, with applications accepted from today [March 18] to May 10.

SOS focuses on UK talent and is a seven month programme during which writers get a chance to develop a feature length screenplay and producers are able to fast track their development process.

The programme is built around three workshops, with the first held in London from July 30-Aug 2 to help screenwriters create a feature-length script from a short outline. Participants meet over various dates from July 30-Nov 1 and receive a full set of notes on their drafts.

The final two workshops focus on producers and will involve seminars, group discussions and project specific work. Module two runs with a residential workshop in Genova from Nov 5-7, with the final workshop being held in London at the end of February 2014.

This year’s mentors are Valentina Brazzini, who is responsible for development and talent tracking at The Bureau, Weekend producer Tristan Goligher, who is also currently executive producer of iFeatures2, and London River co-producer Matthieu de Braconier, a former executive producer at Cinema Extreme.

Past speakers have included Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire), Joe Penhall (The Road), Hanif Kureishi (Venus), Thomas Bidegain & Pascal Caucheteux (A Prophet) and Michel Reilhac (ARTE).

Those who wish to apply for the SOS Lab can do so for free before the Early Bird deadline on April 19. Afterwards a fee of £20 applies until May 10.

SOS is also supported by Creative Skillset, the London Film School, Three Mills Studios and the Genova-Liguria Film Commission.

The Bureau commented: “We are really excited to be launching SOS for the third year. Each cycle of the programme allows us to engage and support the vast wealth of talented filmmakers that are looking for an opportunity to develop their skills. We are thrilled to have new partners on board who will aide us in ensuring this is SOS’s most successful year yet.”
