Tom Loftus has joined Myriad Pictures as svp, business affairs & general counsel.

The new arrival most recently served as a legal consultant for Georgeville Television. Prior to that, Loftus worked as a business and legal affairs lawyer at Relativity Media and The Weinstein Company.

He began his legal career in entertainment at the Walt Disney Studios as a business affairs lawyer in the Buena Vista Motion Picture Group, and before that practiced litigation and business law in a Los Angeles law firm.

“[Loftus] brings a wealth of experience in the areas of distribution, finance and production,” said Myriad CEO Kirk D’Amico. “Tom’s expertise will be invaluable to us as we continue to work with more and more complicated deals and structures.”

Myriad’s slate include Toronto hit The Disappearance Of Eleanor Rigby starring Jessica Chastain and James McAvoy (pictured), which The Weinstein Company acquired for North America, the UK and France.

Myriad’s roster also features the bittersweet comedy Life Itself starring Diane Keaton and Morgan Freeman, and the darkly comedic thriller Miss Meadows starring Katie Holmes.
