With The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2, Skyfall and Rise of the Guardians still dominant, and the big holiday releases yet to come, there are only a handful of major-territory openings in the international marketplace this weekend.

Five of the new openings come courtesy of Universal Pictures International (UPI).

The studio’s Anna Karenina, which as of Monday (Dec 3) had grossed $11.6m internationally, opened on Wednesday (Dec 5) in France and Thursday (Dec 6) in Germany.

UPI’s The Man With The Iron Fists, with $1.6m from international as of Monday, arrived in Australia on Thursday and reaches the UK on Friday (Dec 7).

The company has Moonrise Kingdom entering Mexico on Friday and Pitch Perfect ($4.9m international to date) opening in Australia on Thursday and Brazil on Friday.

The studio opened Playing the Field in Russia on Thursday and reported updated international grosses for Ted ($283.1m), The Bourne Legacy ($162.9m) and ParaNorman ($43.2m).

Sony Pictures Releasing International opened Here Comes the Boom in Australia (on 155 screens) and Russia (on 479) on Thursday.

Ruby Sparks, from Fox International, opened in Italy on Thursday, having amassed $5.8m from the international marketplace so far.

Among Fox’s holdover releases, Ice Age: Continental Drift reached $717.8m on Monday, Prometheus climbed to $277.6m and Taken 2 to $225.7m (including non-Fox territories).The studio’s Life of Pi had reached $68.1m as of Monday.

Paramount Pictures International opens The Oranges in the UK on Friday. It also reported international grosses through to the end of last weekend of $525.3m for Madagascar 3, $86.2 for Paranormal Activity 2 and $55.5m for Rise of the Guardians.

Warner Bros International reported on Monday that Argo had reached $56m internationally. And FilmNation Entertainment updated the international gross for Looper to $99.3m.
