Todd Solondz’ black comedy Life During Wartime is the third film to be released simultaneously in cinemas and on television by Artificial Eye and Sky Movies

Todd Solondz’ Life During Wartime will be released simultaneously in UK cinemas and on television channel Sky Box Office (SBO) by Artificial Eye and Sky Box Office on April 23rd.

It is the third film to be released simultaneously as part of an ongoing deal between Artificial Eye and Sky Box Office, following Fatih Akin’s German language The Edge of Heaven in Feb 2008 and Erick Zonkaand’s Julia, starring Tilda Swinton in December 2008.

The sequel of sorts to Solondz’s 1998 Cannes Fipresci winner Happiness, Life During Wartime will be released in at least 10 cinemas across the UK from April 23rd, as well as being available on Sky Box Office for a limited two week period.

Starring Allison Janney, Ally Sheedy and Shirley Henderson as three sisters haunted by their past three sisters haunted by the past, the film picked up the Golden Osella award for best screenplay at Venice in2009.

Philip Knatchbull, CEO of Curzon Artificial Eye said: “There are many people who won’t or can’t go to see a film on its release in cinemas, but by paying the same price will be able to see that film, day and date, in the comfort of their own home.  We see this as a great model for the future distribution of smaller independent films.”

Ian Lewis, Director of Sky Movies and Sky Box Office, added: “Sky Box Office is thrilled to continue its partnership with Curzon Artificial Eye as part of its commitment to offering customers choice and flexibility over when and how they enjoy the latest movies. ”
