British producer David Parfitt has been appointed as the new chair of Film London, replacing Sandy Lieberson who has held the post since 2004.

The BAFTA winning producer and former BAFTA chair takes the helm at Film London the day after the organisation was given the responsibility of managing the national inward investment function for film in the UK.

Parfitt, who is currently in production on My Week With Marilyn for his company Trademark Films, said he  “relished the challenge of driving forward Film London during this new exciting period of change and development.”

“As well as building on their excellent track record, I look forward to helping establish a new national strategy for inward investment through film,” he added.

Also joining the board will be the head of rights, business affairs and partnerships at BBC North, Isabel Begg. She replaces Lisbeth Savill.
