London-based sales outfit High Point Films has picked up worldwide rights to Dutch director Hanro Smitsman’s psychological drama, Dusk.

Produced by Amsterdam-based company Corrino Media Group, Dusk is based on the real life case of a group of teenage friends who plot the cold-blooded murder of one of their own.

The film premiered at San Sebastian International Film Festival, before going on to have its US debut at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. High Point will launch the film at the EFM in Berlin in February.

High Point’s sales arm already has Hanro Smitsman’s previous film, Skin, on its slate.  The company’s managing director Carey Fitzgerald said of the acquisition: “Dusk is powerful evidence of an increasingly assured talent which, in our view, deserves international recognition, and we are proud to be the company spreading the word.”
