The established British producer has left CinemaNX after five years as a partner at the company to set up his own production company, boarding two new projects as a co-producer.
Marc Samuelson has left UK and Isle of Man based distribution, financing and production outfit CinemaNX after five years as a partner, to set up his own production company.
He revealed that he and CinemaNX chairman Steve Christian had taken the decision to “reorganize”, with CinemaNX continuing to concentrate on financing, co-financing and distribution.
Samuelson is now in the process of setting up his new outfit and has begun discussions with a number of potential partners and backers.
He has already come onboard as a co-producer with Rory Gilmartin and Joe Abrams of Brilliant Films on Crooked House, a Julian Fellowes adaptation, directed by Neil LaBute which Ealing is selling out of Cannes.
He is also co-producing All Our Christmases, with Polly Leys and Kate Norrish of Hillbilly Films. The edgy Christmas comedy is being written and directed by Aschlin Ditta.
Samuelson, who prior to CinemaNX worked as an independent producer with credits including Wilde, Tom And Viv and Stormbreaker, will continue to have a role on the CinemaNX board. He is still attached to produce a new project for NX shooting in the Ilse of Man in the autumn and will continue to be based in the NX office for the forseeable future.
CinemaNX’s acquisition and development head Josie Law is leaving NX to join Samuelson in his new venture.
