Orange invites film fans to post “cheat tweet” synopses of classic films

Phone giant Orange has launched a competition inviting movie buffs to post synopses of films on social networking site Twitter.

Following research by Orange which revealed that 46% of UK film fans have lied about seeing a classic films to impress their friends and colleagues, the mobile phone company is asking film-fans to post ‘cheat-tweets’ for some of the greatest works of cinema, in order to create a bluffers guide to the classics.

Each weekday Orange will announce a new film via the @orangefilmTwitter feed for fans to submit entries to. A panel of Orange film experts will then select their favourite entry of the day, with the author of the week’s best tweet winning a new Blackberry 9700 smartphone.

Films that have already been “tweeted” about include The Godfather:Part One, Forest Gump and Star Wars.
