Pinewood Shepperton announces 15 month results

The studio group reported revenues of £63m over the last 15 months.

Pinewood Shepperton has released its results for the fifteen month period ending March 31 2012.

The studio group reported revenues of £63m over the last 15 months, as opposed to £43.4m in the 12 months from December 2009 to December 2010.

Film revenues for the fifteen month period were £44.9m (year to 31 December 2010: £29.1m).  Operating profit was £13.2m, with loss before tax of £1.9m.

The largest film production based at Pinewood Studios during the period was Dark Shadows (Warner Bros) and the largest production based at Shepperton Studios was Wrath of the Titans (Warner Bros).

Productions which used Pinewood and Shepperton during the period included Prometheus (Fox), Anna Karenina (Working Title/Universal), Snow White and the Huntsman (Universal) and Les Misérables (Working Title/Universal).

The latest James Bond film Skyfall is currently shooting at Pinewood.

Pinewood saw the opening of its new 30,000 sq ft Richard Attenborough stage in April. New investments have included a £3.3m capital project for an electricity supply upgrade and a £0.5m new workshop facility as well as aninvestment programme to expand its digital offering and HD television facilities. 

Commenting on today’s results, Ivan Dunleavy, chief executive, said the company had made a “positive start to the new financial year.”

“Despite increasing global competition the company won significant business from big budget films for our facilities which resulted in the Studios achieving high utilisation.  In television, the trend for large audience television shows continues.”
