Top Right Group today announced that it has agreed an approach from Conor Dignam, MD of EMAP’s Media brands, to run Broadcast, Screen International and shots - the market leading brands for the film, television and advertising industries - as a separate entity.
Trading as Media Business Insight Limited (MBI), the company will develop an independent business strategy and investment plan.
Conor Dignam, CEO of Media Business Insight, said: “I joined EMAP as Editor of Broadcast in 2002 and have led the media brands for over three years so am thrilled to have been given the opportunity to take Broadcast, Screen and shots to an independent future.
“Our plans to further develop the brands’ potential include several event launches next year as well as a focus on growing our subscribers and building up our data products. This is a really exciting opportunity and I’m looking forward to getting started.”
Natasha Christie-Miller, CEO of Emap, said: “This is a great opportunity for Broadcast, Screen International and shots to carve out their own successful future under Conor’s leadership. No further Emap restructure or portfolio change is anticipated.
“Emap is transforming into a subscriber-led, content-driven and customer-obsessed multi-channel media business. Our strategy remains to focus our investments on brands that have a high growth potential, in scale industries where we are or can be the number one. We are investing particularly heavily in our brands serving the retail, fashion, construction, health and architecture sectors where we are already seeing fast, sustainable return.”
Wendy Mitchell, editor of Screen International, added: “This is great news for Screen. It has been great to work with Conor as MD of EMAP’s Media titles, and it’s exciting to see Screen be a part of this new venture he is leading.”
No staffing changes will be made at Screen, and the brand will continue to operate with business as usual.
