Event cinema company Secret Cinema is moving into Afghanistan with its first event in Kabul.

The immersive cinema programme will be held on Dec 8 at secret locations in London and Kabul, marking the first simultaneous Secret Cinema in the world to take place outside the UK.

The event is being touted with the character known as Henry Rose Flemming said to be in Kabul on undisclosed business.

Secret Cinema Kabul will also feature a performance from a local secret band.

In addition Secret Cinema will launch a Facebook project tied to the event, a radio station, and Letters to Kabul, an exchange of ideas and stories.

Fabien Riggall, Secret Cinema founder and creative director said: “We are very excited to bring Secret Cinema to Kabul, we feel passionately that culture should be available to all wherever they are. We are excited to have our audiences come together as part of a secret cultural experience.”

Travis Beard, Secret Cinema Kabul added: “Anything we can offer the Afghan cultural community is a step forward and we’re excited to be part of this global experience for two audiences in two regions of the world. In Kabul, we want to expand the cultural programme in all directions.  Secret Cinema takes on another element of mystery and suspense and we’re proud to be part of this launch and production.”
