The sixth Birds Eye View Film Festival, devoted to women film-makers, will run from March 4 - 12 at the BFI Southbank and the Institute of Contemporary Art in London.
This year’s programme will include Drew Barrymore’s Whip It, Jessica Hausner’s Golden Lion nominee Lourdes and Kim Longinotto’s Sundance Grand Jury Prize documentary Rough Aunties.
Highlights of the festival include a masterclass from 2006 Oscar nominated Danish director Susanne Bier, whose original Danish film Brothers has been remade for Hollywood with Tobey Maguire and Natalie Portman, as well as a retrospective of iconic blondes in the movies.
There will be a focus on fashion films including work by Ruth Hogben and Wendy Bevan, as well as the launch of an animation lab in partnership with Warp Films.
The festival is supported by the UK Film Council, with patrons such as Mike Figgis, Mira Nair, Joanna Lumley, Juliet Stevenson, Martha Fiennes, Stephen Woolley and Gurinder Chadha.
