Tinge Krishnan, who made BAFTA winning short Shadowscan, makes his feature directorial debut on the project, now shooting in London.

Tom Sturridge, Romola Garai and newcomer Cadese Reid have joined Eddie Marsan in new UK feature Junkhearts.

The film started its four week shoot in London on Sunday.

The suspense drama is about an ex-soldier, haunted by his past, who is manipulated by a drug-addicted young couple.

Simon Frank wrote the screenplay.

Krishnan said: “I am thrilled to be directing this urban contemporary story, full of intrigue and rich with complex characters. At its centre Junkhearts shows that no matter how bleak things can seem, we can still form relationships that lift and surprise us.”

Katz added: “Simon Frank’s gritty urban fairytale about consequence, guilt and redemption is equally provocative and compelling.  I am delighted to have such a strong British cast that have a mixture of experience and real screen vitality.  The final results on screen should be gripping.”

Coded Pictures’ past projects include Fredrik Bond’s short The Mood and Mat Whitecross’ feature documentary Moving to Mars.
