Christian Colson’s Cloud Eight Films, Film4 and Pathe are offering a script deal to Simon Lewis.

Lewis is a novelist (Bad Traffic, Go) whose first screenplay Dip was produced as part of Channel 4’s Coming Up scheme, now in its 10th year. The Coming Up initiative premiered seven films this week at the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

Slumdog Millionaire producer Colson set up Cloud Eight in 2009l the company has a five-year deal with Pathe.

Cloud Eight’s Colson and Ivana MacKinnon have also produced The Scouting Book For Boys, written by Jack Thorne and directed by Tom Harper, who are also both alumni of Coming Up.

Ivana MacKinnon said in a statement: “Simon is an exciting new talent with a wealth of ideas and a fresh, commercial sensibility. We are thrilled to be working with him and with Film4 on this new project.”

Channel 4’s Ben Stoll added: “Now in its tenth year, Coming Up provides a unique opportunity to emerging filmmakers and offers an exciting variety of voices an industry-wide platform.”
