Richard Glasser, founder of International Film Office, has passed away aged 50 years old.
Industry veteran and founder of IFO (International Film Office) Richard Glasser died on February 23 in Los Angeles, after suffering a major stroke. He was 50 years old.
A hugely popular and beloved figure with all his colleagues and peers, Glasser had just returned from the European Film Market in Berlin on February 17 when he was struck down in the early hours of February 18. He is survived by Giovanna and his three daughters, Gabriella, Cati and Elissa.
Born to Joan and Bernard Glasser, a veteran film producer, he was a successful entrepreneur, whose career in the independent film business spanned over 28 years.
He started out in international sales, having worked for high profile companies such as Hemdale and Samuel Goldwyn. He then formed his own company IFO in 1991 representing independent film buyers from all over the world, including Germany, Portugal, Argentina, Poland and the Middle East.
