The three day co-production market takes place September 13-16 in Halifax, Canada.

Strategic Partners has announced its keynote speakers ahead of its three-day co-production market this September in Halifax, Canada.

Ken Loach’s longtime producer Rebecca O’Brien will speak on September 14, followed by digital writer and producer Brent V. Friedman the following day.

The event is a ‘one-stop shop’ for producers, broadcasters, sales agents, financiers, distributors and film agencies to network, attend key note speeches and discussion panels.

The deadline for applications is June 29 and according to Strategic Partners director Jan Miller, the market is already attracting a record number of applications.

“Opening with A Conversation with Rebecca O’Brien a producer who has such a notable track record, creative business model and such passionate, clear sensibilities, sets the perfect tone for this event,” added Miller.

O’Brien has produced 12 films with Ken Loach including the 2006 Palme D’Or winner The Wind That Shakes The Barley and this year’s Cannes Jury prize winning The Angels’ Share.

Friedman is a founding partner of Electric Farm Entertainment and pioneer in “transmedia storytelling” with credits including writing and producing on Star Trek: Enterprise, Twilight Zone, co-creating the NBC cult-hit series Dark Skies, and working on the Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars video-game. He is currently writing the multi-player narrative for the upcoming blockbuster, Halo 4.
