Steve Nickerson has joined Summit Entertainment as president of its new home entertainment division, while Bobby Gerber has joined as executive vice president and general sales manager.

The pair arrive from Warner Home Video and will spearhead the new division with a focus on traditional video distribution and emerging market opportunities. They report to Summit's chief operating officer Bob Hayward.

President of domestic television distribution Alex Fragen, who heads Summit's TV sales, will work with Nickerson and his team to devise the studio's new media distribution strategies.

Nickerson will also work closely with Universal Studios Home Entertainment (USHE), with whom Summit announced a physical distribution partnership in June. Under that arrangement Summit will handle all, sales, marketing, retailer relationships, release dating and replication for its videos.

Nickerson most recently held the role of senior vice president of worldwide high definition media at Warner Home Video, while Gerber served as senior vice president of field sales.

'Bringing executives of Steve and Bobby's calibre to Summit is a strong indicator of the quality of the domestic distribution organisation we are creating here at Summit,' Hayward said.

'Both are top tier industry professionals that immediately establish us as a premier supplier in the home entertainment market,' said Hayward.
