Dagur Kari's Noi Albinoi took the top two prizes at the second Transylvania International Film Festival in Cluj-Napoca.

The multiple-award winner from Iceland walked away with both of the festival's main prizes on Saturday May 31, the Transylvania Trophy worth $4,000 and the Romanian critics' prize.

There was also a local success at the country's leading film festival as DOP for Romanian entry The Rage, Vivi Dragan Vasile received the 'best image prize' offered by Kodak Cinelabs Romania.

The five-member jury, including novelist and scriptwriter Barry Gifford, Toronto Film Fest programmer Diana Sanchez, Palm Springs International Film Festival artistic director Alissa Simon, Romanian film critic Alex Leo Serban and Romanian producer-director Dinu Tanase awarded the best interpretation award to Henryk Golebiewski's outstanding performance in the competition's Polish entry, Edi. The jury also gave a special mention for Intacto to DOP Xavi Jimenez.

Thirteen first- or second features were screened as part of the festival's competition section. The second edition of the festival featured 153 screenings of 70 films in various sections, including festival favourites in the Supernova section, American independent productions, the best-loved Scandinavian films and special profiles of Pedro Almodovar, Lucian Pintilie and Lukas Moodysson, featuring three films from each of the directors.

Over 15,000 spectators attended the screenings, 60% more than in the debut year. The public once again awarded its own prize, this time to a film out of competition, Pedro Almodovar's Hable Con Ella.

The closing three days of the festival featured the Romanian Days section where nine new Romanian films were screened for the 250 accredited guests of the festival. The program also included seminars on film financing, film co-production, film marketing and the future of the Romanian cinema
