Norway has submitted Joachim Trier's feature debut, Reprise, for consideration in the foreign-language Oscar race.

"We have great confidence inthis year's candidate - it is unusual, poetic and exciting, and gets to theaudience from the very first moment" said chairman of the selection committee, JanErik Holst of the Norwegian Film Institute.

With its premiere at theKarlovy Vary International Film Festival, Reprisewon the best director award and the Don Quijote Prize. In Toronto, it won the Discovery Award. It will next screen atthe London Film Festival.

Trier wrote the script for Reprise with Eskil Vogt, with Karin Julsrud producing. The filmstars Espen Klouman Hoiner and Anders Danielsen Lie in the story of twoaspiring novelists.

Oscar nominations areannounced on Jan 23; Norway got its last nomination in 2001 with Petter Naess' Elling.

The Norwegian Oscarcommittee was comprised of Holst, producers John M Jacobsen and Olav Oen,directors Elisabeth Sjaastad and Hilde Heier, film critic Vibeke Johnsen andthe Norwegian Film Institute's head of international relations Stine Oppegaard.
