Ocean's Eleven, released Feb 6 in France, did not manage to topple local blockbuster Asterix Et Obelix: Mission Cleopatre from the top of the charts, although it attracted a strong 1.5 million admissions in its first week.

Asterix, which already claimed the all-time best opening week record in France (previously held by Taxi 2,), with over 3.67 million tickets, has set yet another record for its second week, with 3.2 million admissions.

Notably, the sequel is the first title ever to pass the three million admissions mark in its second week, dropping only 16% from the previous week. With nearly seven million tickets sold in two weeks, the title looks set to establish some further records before its run is complete.

The week ending February 12th has been very good for the French box office (up 26% from the previous week), with a third title, French film-maker Francois Ozon's star-studded comedy 8 Femmes (Eight Women) also passing the one million admissions mark in its first week.

Meanwhile, Harry Potter has topped the nine million admissions mark in its 10th week, which already makes it the third biggest foreign film ever in France, after Titanic and The Lion King.
