UPDATED NOVEMBER 7: Open Road and Endgame Entertainment have acquired US rights to Oliver Stone’s Edward Snowden film, which is proving to be a hot draw at the AFM.

The match-up is a logical fit given that Open Road head Tom Ortenberg handled the US release of Stone’s W. while at Lionsgate.

As Screendaily reported exclusively this week, Wild Bunch touts international rights and has been treating the sensitive screenplay with the kind of behaviour one would expect given the subject matter.

Buyers have only been allowed to read the script in Wild Bunch’s office at the AFM. Pathé has acquired rights for France and Benelux.

The film about the NSA whistleblower is scheduled to shoot in Munich in January 2015.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt will star as Snowden.

Wild Bunch sales head Vincent Maraval negotiated the deal for international sales rights with Stone’s regular producer Moritz Borman.
