Oscilloscope Laboratories has picked up North American rights to So Yong Kim's South Korean drama Treeless Mountain, which premiered in Toronto and will screen in the Forum section at next month's Berlinale.

The new York-based company plans an April 22 theatrical release at the Film Forum in New York City followed by a national theatrical expansion and DVD release in the summer.

The story revolves around two sisters in Seoul who adapt to seemingly drastic changes in their lives as their mother leaves in search of their estranged father. Youngsters Hee Yeon Kim and Song Hee Kim star.

Lars Knudsen, Jay Van Hoy, Ben Howe, Bradley Rust Gray and Kim produced with Ian McGloin, Jamie Mai and Charlie Ledley providing financing and executive producer support under their Strange Loop Entertainment label.

Oscilloscope brokered the deal with Parts And Labor and Memento Films International.
