Overture Films has acquired romantic comedy Celeste and Jesse Forever, co-written by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack.

Jones will also star in the story of a young couple who try to maintain their friendship while going through a divorce and pursuing new relationships.

Suzanne and Jennifer Todd of Team Todd will produce.

“Rashida is among the brightest and funniest young actresses today and we are delighted to be working with her,” Overture CEO Chris McGurk and COO Danny Rosett said. “The script she and Will have put together is witty and touching and with Team Todd in the mix, the project has great promise.”

Jones starred in I Love You, Man and in TV’s Parks And Recreation and The Office (US). McCormack has recurring TV roles and also acted in Team Todd projects Prime and Must Love Dogs.

Team Todd has also worked on Austin Powers, Across the Universe, Memento and Tim Burton’s new Alice In Wonderland.

Jennifer and Suzanne Todd added, “We are such big fans of both Rashida and Will and it is exciting to be working with them creatively. Rashida is proving she’s one to watch both in front of the camera and behind the scenes.”

Jones is represented by UTA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Schreck Rose Dapello Adams & Hurwitz.  McCormack is represented by The Gersh Agency, Kritzer, Levine, Wilkins Entertainment and Loeb & Loeb.

Overture’s forthcoming line-up also includes Paper Heart, Pandorum, and Men Who Stare At Goats, plus Catherine Hardwicke’s Hamlet now in development.
