UPDATED: Disney’s Oz The Great And Powerful held on to top berth as an estimated $46.6m weekend propelled the early tally to $136.8m. Meanwhile, Die Hard 5 crossed $200m and Hansel And Gretel reached $150m.

Oz dropped a respectable 43% in its second weekend. Coupled with the $42.2m North American number one hold the adventure fantasy now stands at $281.8m worldwide.

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International reported that Oz debuted in France on $4.7m. The film has raced to $21.4m in Russia after two weekends and stands at $11.6m in the UK, $10.3m in Mexico and $9.7m in Australia.

In other second weekend holds Oz has reached $8.5m in Brazil, $8.4m in Japan, $7.6m in Italy, $7.3m in Germany, $4.5m in Spain and $2.6m in South Korea.

The family release ranks number one in Germany, Italy, the UK, Spain, Brazil, Argentina and Australia and is scheduled to arrive in China on Mar 29.

Oz generated approximately $2m on 155 IMAX screens to raise the international running total to $6.6m and the global haul to a dazzling $20.7m.

  • UPDATED: A Good Day To Die Hard remained highly effective through Fox International, grossing a confirmed $20.5m from 8,966 screens in 50 markets to push the score to $201.3m.

Driving the weekend business was a dynamic $15.7m number one debut on 5,009 Chinese screens. Australia and Venezuela are the last two markets to go and Die Hard 5 opens in the former this week.Lincoln stands at $79.7m and opened in South Korea on $489,957, while multiple Oscar winner Life Of Pi has grossed $483m. Stoker has reached an early $4.4m from eight.

  • UPDATED: Warner Bros Pictures International reported an $11.2m session for Jack The Giant Slayer that boosted the running total to $36.5m. The adventure fantasy opened in Mexico on $4m from 1,610 screens to rank top. The film debuted second in Spain behind the second weekend of Oz on $1.3m from 460 and arrived in Germany on $845,000 from 409. There was an excellent number one debut in the UAE that produced $670,000 from 53 screens and beat Oz.The Hobbit has reached $711.7m internationally and stands at $48.4m in China after four weekends.
  • Hansel And Gretel: Witch Hunters added $6.2m from 42 markets through Paramount Pictures International (PPI) to reach $151.2m after nine weekends. The film stayed top in Austria for the third weekend and has delivered $1.8m.

PPI called a close contest for number one in Germany with Disney’s Oz as $2.3m from 509 boosted the tally to $13m after three weekends. Disney claimed top spot in its report. France generated $1.5m from 418 for $4.8m after two.

Flight added $1.1m from 37 for $68m after 20 weekends. A further $708,000 from 321 in Japan elevated the score there to $7.4m after three weekends.

  • UPDATED: Sony Pictures Releasing International reported that Django Unchained grossed $3.1m from 54 markets, resulting in a $246.3m running total for Quentin Tarantino.
  • UPDATED: Universal Pictures International reported on Monday [18] that Mama generated $3.8m from 1,987 sites in 30 territories to reach $47.2m. The horror film opened in second place in Hong Kong on $176,000 from 36 theatres and in limited release in Australia on $122,000 from 40. Working Title’s Les Misérables stands at $280.9m, This Is 40 $16.9m, Anna Karenina $50.2m, Identity Thief $3.2m, Ted $328.6m and Pitch Perfect $46.6m.
  • UPDATED: FilmNation issued the final box office report for Looper on Monday. The sci-fi hit finished on $110m internationally through FilmNation licensees and $176.6m worldwide. Chinese co-financier and distributor DMG was yet to release its final figure and the film has not yet opened in Taiwan.
